Phi Mai ancient site is attributed to the Khmer era, and is often linked to Angkor Wat in Cambodia. I noticed one thing that was challenging and appeared different to other similar Thai sites. Some of the stone staircases and door 'steps' are particularly high, as are the doorways - about twice the normal height for current humans. Not only does this make for an uncomfortable climb up and down for visitors, but also it makes me wonder if the builders were much taller than current humans - perhaps twice as tall. In Thai history there are many mentions of giants - and their statues are often seen around Thailand at current temples.
