130 cellar rooms were discovered yet according to the article. Toolmarks and number of rooms (60 available to the public) reminded me of the photos of the underground cities in Turkey. The site is near these Erdstall (plural: Erdställe, german word for 'earth barns') sites in Frankonia / Bavaria. Just a random thought: since "stall" means barn or stable, this meaning could have survived in our subconscious collective mind.
